In contrast to trackers, Ghost doesn't transmit any radio frequency signals and can't be detected using diagnostics tools. Ghost doesn't have LED indicators or buttons that would signal its presence in your car or van.
Anti-key cloning
The ghost immobiliser is designed to combat key hacking and cloning. The device is connected to your vehicle's data network CAN and creates an unique pin code using the factory buttons in your dashboard and steering. This prevents thieves from being able to start your car. If the wrong PIN is entered, it will stop the engine from starting which makes it impossible to drive off with joy and pride.

Unlike physical deterrents like wheel locks and steering locks that can be cut or stolen The ghost immobiliser is an invisible electronic device that can't be detected by common thieves, as it doesn't emit radio signals and is completely silent.

This is accomplished by connecting the Ghost-II into the vehicle's data network CAN, which means that there aren't any additional wires to hide or easily located. It also comes with a built-in feature which allows you to deactivate the Ghost-II simply by connecting it to the vehicle's Bluetooth.
OBD port hacking
OBD port hacking is the latest method being used by professional car thieves to steal vehicles. Thieves have access to your vehicle's OBD port with no more than an laptop, an app and a few cables that can be purchased on the internet for under PS50. Once they have access to your vehicle's OBD port, they are able to do whatever they want including changing fault codes and tuning your vehicle to taking away your pride and joy in just a few seconds.
If you have a Ghost immobiliser fitted it can protect your vehicle from theft using this method, by requiring that a unique PIN sequence is entered into your key fob to start the engine and drive away. It does this by interacting with the vehicle's ECU (Engine Control Unit) via the CAN Data circuit, and is completely undetectable to any scan or code grabbing technology. It has a Service/Valet Mode that allows your vehicle to start with no PIN code.
To use an OBD hacking device, you'll must have an operating system that is capable of reading the OBD protocol, which can be purchased for under PS100 on eBay or Amazon. You will also require a cable that has OBD pins connected to CAN Bus. These cables can be bought on Amazon/Ebay around PS50. The cable has to be spliced into the wiring harness of your car, like the radio wiring harness.
Once the hacker has established a connection to your vehicle's OBD port, they can send diagnostics to the system at a high baud rate which can cause CAN to crash, and prevent systems within your car from functioning. This can cause your car's engine to stall or shut down.
There is no need for additional remotes or key fobs
A car immobiliser is great piece of anti theft technology used by billions of modern vehicles all over the world. An aftermarket immobiliser helps protect your vehicle by using engine ECU software that blocks cars from starting when a false transponder is transmitted.
However, it can be easy for thieves to get around an immobiliser system if they have access to the code that allows them to disable it. A burglar can easily take the battery off of most key fobs by removing them. They could then use a simple tool in order to remove the internal circuit board from an immobiliser and replace it with a blank. Then, they'll be capable of starting your car.
With the TASSA approved Ghost 2 immobiliser, there are no remotes or keys to be purchased. The immobiliser communicates directly with the vehicle's ECU (Engine Control Unit). This is ideal for customers who wish to surrender their car to valet parking or service, but don't want divulge the PIN sequence.
In contrast to Thatcham products that require additional key-fobs in order to operate, Ghost is a discreet system which takes advantage of the buttons in your vehicle to create an unique and interchangeable PIN code sequence. This sequence is entered through the app for smartphones, meaning no extra LED indications are being thrown, and your vehicle is safe from the risk of being blocked by hackers or other technology.
Tested for every vehicle
In contrast to key fobs that require you to press buttons and a ghost immobiliser can be discretely placed under your steering wheel or dash so that you don't even know it's there. The device is connected to your vehicle's CAN network, and a PIN code can be programmed using the buttons on your vehicle. The system then prevents your engine from running until this code has been entered prior to. Ghost can be used in all vehicles, including electric cars motorhomes, vans, motorhomes and bikes. It is also extremely versatile and can be programmed to turn off under different circumstances. For example, it can be set to enter Valet mode when the car is taken to a valet park or servicing company. This allows you to drive your car within the 30mph limit and the ghost immobiliser will start to activate itself when the vehicle returns to your home.
